PRESS RELEASE

On January 12, 2005 at 9:48 PM, New Ipswich Police observed a Black Chevrolet truck pass the Police Department at an extremely high rate of speed as the officer was attempting to exit the parking lot. Once the vehicle passed, the officer turned right onto Turnpike Road, heading west, after the vehicle. The driver lost control of the vehicle on the extremely icy road conditions and crashed into the stone wall lining a driveway on Turnpike Road.

Police approached the vehicle to check on the driver, who was leaning over the steering wheel unconscious. The driver, identified as Bryce Olson, 19, of Rindge, Olson sustained a large laceration above his right eye and other minor lacerations to the face.

The officer went to his cruiser to retrieve a First Aid kit and returned to find Olson in the driver's seat of the vehicle, attempting to leave the scene. The vehicle sustained moderate damage to the front of the truck. The stone wall also sustained damage.

Olson was transported to Monadnock Community Hospital for treatment, but refused treatment for his injuries. Olson was transported to the New Ipswich Police Station and charged with Open Container and Aggravated DWI. He was released on Personal Recognizance bail pending his arraignment on March 8, 2005.
