PRESS RELEASE

Warwick Mills Evacuated

On Wednesday July 12, 2006, at approximately 10:54 AM, the New Ipswich Police Department, New Ipswich Fire Department, and Souhegan Valley Ambulance personnel responded to Warwick Mills at Mill Street and the intersection of Turnpike and Highbridge Roads for a Hazmat situation. Officials determined that nitric acid had been released due to a chemical that came in contact with metal. Warwick Mills and some houses on Mill Street were evacuated due to safety concerns, as the chemical dissipates to low-lying areas.

Two people who may have inhaled the fumes were transported to Monadnock Community Hospital. Officials advise that as of 12:30 PM the chemical appears to have dissipated, but it will be several hours before an air quality reading can be obtained.

There is no further information available at this time.
