Vandals Topple Headstones at Cemetery

On Friday August 18, 2006 at 9:38 AM the New Ipswich Police were notified that some headstones had been knocked over in the Smithville Cemetery. On arrival they observed that the sign for the cemetery had been broken off at the base and was lying on the ground. There were also six headstones that had been toppled over, but had not broken.

The incident is under investigation and anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Lt. Carpenter at 878-2771.
