PRESS RELEASE

September 23, 2003

On Monday September 22, 2003 at 6:00 PM, the New Ipswich Police received a report of a vehicle operating recklessly on Gibbs Avenue. Before police arrived, the driver lost control of the 2001 Chevrolet pickup and struck a tree. The driver, Seth Heywood, 17, of Peterborough and his passenger, Brett Mason, 24, of Temple were both transported to the hospital where they were treated for their injuries and released.

Seth Heywood was arrested and bailed at Monadnock Community Hospital. He was charged with Aggravated DWI, Unreasonable Speed - Accident Resulting, Possession of Alcohol, Transportation of Alcohol, and Operating Without a Valid License.

Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash, but the incident is still under investigation.
