CRIME OF THE WEEK

October 12, 2003

New Ipswich Police were notified that pumpkins had been thrown into the middle of Turnpike Road several times over the course of a few days. During the course of an undercover investigation on October 12, 2003 Police observed a new white Ford truck with several people in the back who were tossing pumpkins out onto the road.

As a vehicle attempted to avoid the pumpkins, it was involved in a near collision with an oncoming tractor trailer. The tractor trailer jacknifed, but no one was hurt and no damage occurred.

Police were familiar with the vehicle and the owner and observed it a short time later on Appleton Road. The driver refused to stop and Police broke off the pursuit on Temple Road due to safety concerns.

Police have obtained a confession and charges are forthcoming.
