PRESS RELEASE

October 26, 2003

On Sunday October 26, 2003 at approximately 6:08 PM, the New Ipswich Police Department received a report of a reckless driving incident in which a gray vehicle was being driven over an embankment at the area on Turnpike Road commonly known as “the lot”. Police responded to the area and determined that a large crowd of individuals had gathered and were engaging in disruptive behavior. As a result, police instructed all subjects to leave the area. The vehicle had been abandoned with significant damage in the lot, and was determined to have been stolen from Trustee Service on Turnpike Rd. Another vehicle with no registration was towed from the lot as abandoned. Charges will be forthcoming for operators.

At 2100 hrs. police responded to the ABC complex on Tricnit Rd. in an attempt to disperse a large crowd that had gathered. When police arrived, a large group went into one of the businesses in the complex and refused to leave. As a result, additional officers from NH State Police, Rindge Police, and Greenville Police responded to assist.

Twenty-eight subjects on the premises were identified and were entered into the Police Department’s database and advised that should they return at anytime, they would be subject to immediate arrest. As a result of the unruly behavior, Police are stepping up enforcement levels, and have requested the assistance of the NH State Police for additional enforcement.
