PRESS RELEASE

New Ipswich Officer Targeted

On November 25, 2006 at approximately 0155 hrs. Officer Matthew Morrison returned to the New Ipswich Police Department from a call the he had responded to and observed that that the front passenger side window in his personal vehicle had been shattered.

Morrison approached his vehicle to observe that a large rock measuring 5 x 7 inches had been thrown through the window and was on the driver's side floor. Morrison did observe a suspect vehicle in the area and several suspects have been identified.

Police believe that the vandalism was in retaliation for Morrison's high motor vehicle activity level. Since his hiring in October, Morrison's efforts have made a significant impact on the speeding complaints received by the department, and resulted in many compliments from citizens.

As a result of this incident, Chief Garrett Chamberlain has instructed all officers to raise the level of enforcement, and issued the following statement.

" We have always been plagued with an element of the community that believes that the laws do not apply to them. Slowly, they are learning that this was a misconception. If you abide by the law and conduct yourself as a responsible member of the community, you will appreciate the service that this police department provides. If you elect to reside, commute or congregate in this community and fail to abide by the laws and ordinances established, it will not only be expensive, but miserable."

There is no further information available at this time.
