Police Log Week Ending 1/19/2002




1/13/02 to 1/19/02-


Sunday 1/13/02-

06:27: Burglary: A resident of Appleton Road reported that her apartment had been burglarized. Police are investigating.

09:42: MV Off the Road: Police directed traffic on Route 124 by Mascenic High School due to a vehicle stuck in the snow.

09:56: 911 Hangup: Police responed to a residence on Upper School Street for a 911 hangup. The resident stated that they were attempting to make a call with their speed dial.

11:16: Tree on Wires: The Police and Fire Departments responded to a tree down on some wires on Ken Street. PSNH was notified and the Fire Department remained on site until the issue was resolved.

11:50: OHRV Accident: Police responded to an OHRV accident on Green Farm Road. The driver's foot was caught under his snowmobile's track. He was freed from the track and appeared to be uninjured. SVAS was called to the scene as a precaution.

12:07: Tree on Wires: Police received a report that there was a tree on some wires along Temple Road. there was no traffic or safety hazard present and PSNH was notified.

15:50: MV Off the Road: Police assisted the driver of a vehicle which was stuck in the snow on Temple Road. No injuries or damage were incurred.

15:50: MV Off the Road: Police responded to Greenville Road for a motor vehicle stuck in the snow. There were no injuries and the vehicle sustained only minor damage.

16:04: Police responded to car accident on Route 124. Marion Lewis had lost control of her vehicle due to slippery road conditions. She sustained no injuries, but the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Monday 1/14/02-

10:10: Suspicious Vehicle: A New Ipswich resident reported that he had seen a suspicious vehicle several times. Police investigated and the resident was also notified to call the police immediately if he saw the vehicle again.

14:20: MV Accident: Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Appleton Road. Nathan Rautiola had lost control of his vehicle and it had rolled over. There were no injuries, but the vehicle sustained some damage.

15:52: Ambulance Assist: Police assisted SVAS with a call at a residence on Collins Road.


Tuesday 1/15/02-

19:21: Shots Fired: Police observed a vehicle turn onto Currier Road from Turnpike Road. As it turned, four shots were fired from the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle eluded pursuit and description was available.

19:41: Shots Fired: The New Ipswich Fire Department reported that shots were being fired at the dirt lot across from the fire stationoff Turnpike Road. Police responded and found several juvenileswith a .22 caliber rifle, who admitted that they had been shooting. An investigation is under way and charges will be filed.

20:00: Animal Complaint: A resident of Mason Road sustained a bite from a stray cat that she had been petting. She was advised to contact her doctor immediately, due to the possibility of disease.

20:47: Mutual Aid: Police assisted the State police with a motor vehicle stop on Turnpike Road by Highbridge. The vehicle may have been involved in the first incident of shots being fired. The matter is currently under investigation.


Wednesday 1/16/02-

13:00: Stray Dogs: A resident of Turnpike Road reported finding two stray dogs wearing radio collars. The dogs belonged to hunters and were picked up by their owners shortly after they were found.

13:30: Motorist Assist: While returning from a detail, a New Ipswich officer observed a vehicle driving past the police station with a set of keys on the roof. The officer followed the driver and stopped him on Greenville Road, where he returned the keys to their owner.

19:55: Residential Alarm: Police responded to a burglar alarm on Appleton Road. On arrival, they found the front door open and conducted a search of the property. No signs of forced entry were found. As there was no one at home, police secured the door and cleared the area.

22:14: Ambulance Assist: Police assisted SVAS with a call at the Friendship Manor.


Thursday 1/17/02-

14:08: Lost Dog: A resident of Mill Street reported that her dog had run away that morning and not returned. Officers checked the area and were unable to find the dog.

18:30: Shots Fired: Police received a report of the sound of explosions coming from a residence on Turnpike Road. When police arrived, no such sounds were heard and there was no answer at the residence.

19:26: Loose Horse: A resident of Timbertop Road reported a loose horse. Police checked the area but were unable to find the it.


Friday 1/18/02-

00:10: Suspicious Person: While on patrol, police observed an individual in the road near the Fire Station. He was identified as a Rindge resdent and sent on his way.

13:00: Citizen Assist: Police received a call from a New Ipswich resident looking for a ride to the doctor, due to the fact that he had fallen off the back of his pickup truck. SVAS was notified and the individual was transported to Monadnock Community Hospital for treatment.

13:47: Missing Person: Mascenic High School reported that a 14 year old had disappeared from school just before 1 PM. The parents were notified and the juvenile was found at 2 PM.

14:03: Domestic Dispute: Police responded to a residence for a domestic dispute and subsequently arrested Craig Riley, 28, of New Ipswich. The Greenville Police provided assistance on the call.

16:21: 911 Hang Up: Police responded to a residence on Goen Road for a 911 Hangup.The resident stated that it was accidental.

Theft: Central School reported that some school supplies had been stolen. There is a suspect and police are conducting an investigation.

16:53: Unwanted Subject: Police responded to a residence on Temple Road for an unwanted subject. Charles Reed, 18, was subsequently arrested. The Greenville Police provided assistance on the call.

21:09: Reckless Conduct: While enroute back to Jaffrey after a basketball at Mascenic, the school bus carrying the Conant players was struck by several bottles near the NeWest Mall. Four people were transported to Monadnock Community Hospital due to injuries resulting from the broken glass. The New Ipswich Police were assisted by theGreenville and Jaffrey Police Departments.

21:43: Ambulance Assist: Police responded to Friendship Manor to assist SVAS with a call.

22:45: Criminal Mischief: While police were on patrol, an individual threw rocks through two of the windows at the Police Station. The police have a suspect and the incident is under investigation.


Saturday 1/19/02-

08:07: Wires Down: Police responded to a residence on Appleton Road to direct traffic around some downed wires until PSNH could repair them.

13:43: Lost Dog: A resident of mill Street reported that her dog was missing. The Animal Control Officer was notified. The animal returned to its owner the next day.

13:53: Residential Alarm: Police responded to a residence on Turnpike Road for an alarm. The resident stated that he was changing the battery and had set it off accidentally.

18:20: Citizen Assist: Police observed a vehicle with no rear lights on Turnpike Road by Mascenic. They stopped the vehicle, informed the driver of the defective equipment, and then followed her to her residence due to safety concerns.

18:31: MV Accident: Police responded to a minor motor vehicle accident on Route 124 by Windblown Ski Area. There was no personal injury and only minimal damage to the vehicle. The vehicle was a Ford Ranger pickup driven by Fionnualla Walshe of New Ipswich.
