Police Log Week Ending 06/08/2002
This log represents a sampling of the activity of the
New Ipswich Police Department, but is not a
complete listing of all activity during the week.
06/02/02 to 06/08/02-
Sunday 06/02/02-
0015: Criminal Mischief: Police received a report that
someone had placed tree branches in the middle of Turnpike
Road near Windblown. A resident removed the branches from
the road.
0355: Suspicious Vehicle: A resident of Vaillancourt
Drive reported seeing a suspicious vehicle near her house
in the middle of the night. She was advised to notify Police
immediately if she sees the vehicle again.
0848: Criminal Mischief: Police received a report that
an unknown person threw a log at two vehicles on Mountain-
view Drive and damaged them.
0907: Criminal Mischief: While on routine patrol, Police
observed that a log had been thrown at mailboxes on
Mountainview Drive, knocking two mailboxes off their poles
and denting the third. No one was observed in the area.
1432: MV complaint: Police received a complaint about
a motor vehicle on Thayer Road. Police are looking into the
matter.
1512: Mutual Aid: Police assisted the Greenville Police
with a disturbance in Greenville.
1615: Noise Complaint: Police received a complaint
about a loud party on Philmart Drive. The town's Noise
Ordinance was not in effect at the time of the complaint.
2105: MV Stop: Police stopped Jeffrey Hakkala, 22, of
New Ipswich on Ashby Road and issued a Written Warning
for Defective Equipment: Head Light.
2301: Suspicious Vehicle: Police received a report of a
suspicious vehicle at a construction site on Appleton Road.
Police determined that the vehicle belonged to the owner of
the house that was being built, and they subsequently
cleared the scene.
Monday 06/03/02-
1024: Check the Welfare: Police were informed of an
elderly man who was walking in the middle of the road on
Route 124. The area was checked with negative contact.
1103: Animal Complaint: Police were informed of a
possibly rabid fox that had attacked a cat on Ashburnham
Road. Residents are advised not to approach any wild animal.
1148: Citizen Assist: Police assisted the Jaffrey-
Peterborough Court with tracking down a victim of Criminal
Mischief from 1995, as the subject had finally paid the money
that was owed to her.
1304: Citizen Assist: Police assisted a New Ipswich
resident who needed fingerprint cards done for school
employment.
1508: Criminal Mischief: Police received a report that
a rock had been thrown through a window on North Road
sometime during the night.
1630: Police Information: Police spoke to a person who
provided a few leads about the debris that is being placed
on Route 124. The investigation is ongoing.
1703: Criminal Mischief: Police received a report
that four mailboxes on Goen Road had been damaged by
an unknown person.
1725: Suspicious Circumstances: Police received a
report that a New Ipswich resident had found pornography
on her computer. Police are looking into the matter.
2005: Mutual Aid: Police assisted the Mason Police with
an arrest on Route 124 in Mason.
2331: Alarm: Police responded to a residence on Sharon
Road for a burglar alarm. The building was secure and Police
cleared the scene.
Tuesday 06/04/02-
1240: Ambulance Assist: Police assisted SVAS with a
medical call on River Road by the pond.
2019: Suspicious Person: Police received a report that
a person driving a light-colored pickup truck has been follow-
ing her to work in the early morning and driving erratically,
causing her to be concerned for her safety. She did not have
a plate number or a more detailed description of the vehicle,
so Police were unable to determine the driver's identity.
Wednesday 06/05/02-
2020: Citizen Assist: Police spoke to a juvenile who
stated that he bought a skateboard from another juvenile
and then found out that the skateboard may belong to
someone else. The seller claims that he found the skate-
board at the playground. The juveniles were given a few
days to resolve the issue before Police became involved.
2323: Criminal Mischief: A resident of North Road
reported that she heard a loud bang outside her home. She
observed a vehicle driving away from her mailbox, which
had been destroyed by fireworks that were placed inside it.
Police identified the owner of the vehicle and are
investigating the matter.
2341: Criminal Mischief: Police received a report that
an unknown person had thrown fireworks into his shrubs,
damaging them. Police are investigating.
Thursday 06/06/02-
1030: Animal Complaint: Police received a report that
a New Ipswich resident could not leave her house because
two bluejays attacked her every time she tried to leave. They
were protecting a baby bird that had fallen onto her front steps.
She was advised to use her back door and to not go near the
birds until they left the area.
1344: Ambulance Assist: Police assisted SVAS with a
medical call at the NeWest Mall.
Friday 06/07/02-
0900: Found Dog: A woman came into the Police Station
with a Cairn Terrier that she had found wandering near the
road. The owners were contacted and they came to pick up
the dog.
1140: Check the Welfare: Police were asked to check
the welfare of a woman on Old Wilton Road, as her husband
had been unable to reach her. The woman was outside and
Police determined that her child had left the phone off the
hook. Police cleared the scene without incident.
1253: MV Accident: Police received a report that Eugene
Piurkowski, 55, of Rindge, a teacher at Mascenic High School,
had observed scrapes on the rear bumper of his 1997 Dodge
Intrepid. Police conducted an investigation and determined
that Andrew Simpson, 17, of Greenville struck the Intrepid
with his Thunderbird and left the scene of the accident.
Charges are pending.
1400: Criminal Mischief: Police received a report
that all of the street lights by the New Ipswich Fire Station
had been broken by rocks that had been thrown by an
unknown person.
1940: Suspicious Person: Police received a report that
a man carrying a rifle entered a Turnpike Road resident's
yard from the woods and then left. There was no further
information available and Police cleared the scene.
2230: MV Stop: Police stopped Carol Iodice, 45, of
Mason on Turnpike Road and issued a Written Warning for
Defective Equipment: Tail Light.
2240: MV Stop: Police stopped Caleb Kandoll, 20, of
South Carolina on Turnpike Road and issued a Written
Warning for Defective Equipment: Tail Light.
2250: Citizen Assist: While conducting a check of a
local business, the Officer observed that the lights were on
in one of the company's trucks. The Officer shut off the lights
and contacted the owner to advise him of the incident.
2258: MV Stop: Police stopped Valerie Barclay, 45, of
New Ipswich on Turnpike Road and issued a Written Warning
for Speed.
2335: Animal Complaint: A resident of Perry Road reported
that two bulls were loose on her property. The Animal Control
Officer and the Police Officer returned the animals to where
they belonged.
Saturday 6/8/02-
0015: MV Stop: Police stopped Sam Femino, 19, of
Leominster, MA on Goen Road and issued a Written Warning
for a Stop Sign violation.
0030: MV Stop: Police stopped Jill Hakkala, 24, of New
Ipswich on Temple Road and issued a Written Warning for
Speed.
0050: MV Stop: Police stopped Matthew Somero, 18, of
New Ipswich on Turnpike Road and issued a Written Warning
for Manner of Operation.
0055: Arrest: Police observed an intoxicated juvenile
female walking along Route 124. She was taken into Protective
Custody and released to her mother.
0137: Mutual Aid: Police assisted the Greenville Police
with a fight and an arrest on Main Street in Greenville.
1330: MV Accident: Jennifer Wright, 19, of New Ipswich
reported that Aaron Westover, 22, of Greenville got into a verbal
altercation with her boyfriend and struck her vehicle with his.
Police are conducting an investigation.
1452: Alarm: Police responded to Mascenic High School
for a burglar alarm. The side door door by the work shop was
broken by someone attempting to gain entry. The unknown
individual left the scene before Police arrived. Nothing was
taken and the door was repaired.
1632: OHRV Complaint: Police received a report that a
motorcycle with a loud exhaust was racing up and down
Appleton Road. Police issued a summons to Nathan Rautiola,
17, of New Ipswich for No Helmet. They also issued him a
Written Warning for having an unregistered and uninspected
motor vehicle.
1900: Mutual Aid: Police assisted the Mason Police with
a DWI arrest.
2207: Suspicious MV: Police received a report that there
was a white Camaro parked in a vacant lot on Senator Tobey
Highway. Police spoke to the owner, who stated that the
vehicle broke down and he planned to get it towed in the
morning.
2330: MV Stop: Police stopped Kristen Blanton, 22, of
Fitchburg, MA on Turnpike Road and issued a Written Warning
for Manner of Operation.
2345: MV Stop: Police stopped Raul Maldonado, 29, of
Fitchburg, MA on Turnpike Road and issued a Written Warning
for a Yellow Line violation.
