SAFE KEY PROGRAM
Many residents, particularly senior citizens, are living
alone and would benefit from having a house key or car key
stored at a safe location in case of an accidental lockout.
The Safe Key program is intended to be used when
a resident of New Ipswich locks him or herself out of their
home or car. If they had signed up for the Safe Key
program, they could call the New Ipswich Police at
878-2771 for assistance. The officer would obtain the
name and address of the person and retrieve the
appropriate key from the Safe Key box and bring
it to the caller. Once confirmation was made of their
identity (such as providing a photo ID), the officer would give
the key to the person for their entry into the residence.
The officer would then return the key to the Safe Key
box and fill out the log sheet.
In the event of an emergency, the responding officer
would not obtain the key, but would
instead go directly to the address to use the most
appropriate method to enter the home if the person
was unable to grant access to the officer.
Under no circumstances will any keys be released
to, or used for, any person not listed on the Safe
Key form.
The key for the Safe Key box will only
be kept at the New Ipswich Police Station.
Please contact us by e-mail if you have any questions.
Forms are available at the New Ipswich Police Station.
