Employment: Lieutenant Carpenter joined the New Ipswich Police Department in March of 2003. Prior to that, he owned his own business for two years. Lieutenant Carpenter worked for the Swanzey Police Department for 11 years. He has also worked as a Highway Department employee and as a Fire Captain in Swanzey, and as a substitute teacher at Monadnock Regional High School.

Training / Education: Lieutenant Carpenter is a certified
arson investigator, firearms instructor, defensive tactics instructor, baton instructor and OC (pepper
spray) instructor. He has attended the following classes: Leadership Development, Advanced Supervision
Skills, Managing the Small Police Department, Supervision of Police Personnel, First Line Supervision,
Patrol Crime Scene Response, On-Scene Accident Investigation, Technical Accident Investigation, Armorer's
Course, Law Enforcement Scoped Rifle School, Firearms Instructional Methods, The Problem Shooter, Field
Training Officer, Fire Company Tactical Operations, Fire Incident Command System Instructor, Controlling
and Investigating Bomb Threats, and Aircraft Emergencies.
Personal: Lieutenant Carpenter lives in Swanzey with his wife
of 15 years and their two children.
